History has seen different leadership qualities by both good and bad leaders. Leadership qualities are those that get measured for accomplishing set goals. Qualities, either good or bad, can be learned as well as practice. Below are some of the qualities that make a great leader:

Offer a communication-friendly environment

Constant communication is important in a team. A leader needs to create an environment space that communication-friendly. This space is where members are free to share ideas and opinions without fear. As a leader, it helps to ease this especially when members have differing ideas. A good leader can be a role model of behavior to the rest of the team so that they can solve such a conflict. They should communicate constantly, clearly and openly.

Building trust

A good leader is vulnerable and open to the team members. For one to be vulnerable, mutual trust should be in the picture. A leader can earn trust by showing it to the team members. For instance, a leader should admit their imperfections. This admission engenders respect and trust with the leaders and the subordinates.

Flexible

What would be the best course if your team was recently assigned projects that seem impossible to do? A good leader would first speak to their manager, and come up with a way of prioritizing the team.

The leader should speak to the rest of the team. The leader should then help them understand the importance of the tasks ahead. The leader communicates so that his message makes them feel that they are still the top priority and that he is on their side.

Motivating others

A great leader inspires and motivates the team towards achieving the set goals and vision. A leader motivates others by assuring them that he appreciates their hard work. Collaboration and teamwork is at its best when team members have a common mission in mind. Everyone should receive genuine recognition for their efforts.

Emotional intelligence

As a leader, the team expects you to be self-aware and how your behaviors affect the emotions of the rest of the team. It includes identifying what contributes to your opinions. This makes it easier to address the emotions of the rest of the team.

If you want recognition as a great leader, you must be ready to learn from others. It also requires you to understand human intelligence when working with team members. You too can be a great leader!
